BRIDGEWATER — Jacquilin Kirby of Hillsborough, Somerset County, was named the 2022-23 New Jersey State Dairy Princess, in a ceremony held on Saturday, Nov. 19.
She succeeds Brittany Smith of Oxford, New Jersey, who held the title from 2019-22.
In 2022, Kirby was named Outstanding Somerset County 4-H member. She is active in several 4-H clubs: New Centre Dairy, Branchburg Beef, Dairy & Livestock and S.A.V.E (Scientific Adventures in Veterinary Experiences).
She recently attended the 2022 National 4-H Dairy Conference in Wisconsin and has competed in the New Jersey State 4-H and Holstein Dairy Quiz Bowl for the past nine years.
In her free time, she works at a horse farm and participates in track and field at school.
“I’m excited about my upcoming year as New Jersey State Dairy Princess and look forward to expanding my knowledge of the dairy industry and sharing that information with consumers,” Kirby said.
The 18-year-old granddaughter of Mark and Nancy Kirby has been active in dairy promotion for nine years.
The New Jersey Dairy Princess program is managed by ADA North East, who also manages the New York Dairy Ambassador program, and supports the programs in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Delaware and Virginia by providing funding, training and promotional resources.
