McHENRY, Md. — The Garrett County Farm Bureau recently awarded four $500 scholarships to local college students.
Those chosen were Levi Lantz , who will attend University of Maryland Baltimore County; Sara Carr, who is going to Garrett College; Andrew Hauser, who is attending West Virginia University; and Katelyn Gnegy, who will be going to Purdue University
Garrett County Farm Bureau President Aaron Lantz presided over the award ceremony.
During the photo shoot to commemorate the students winning scholarships, they held their scholarship check in one hand and had a milkshake in the other as they worked the busy Saturday evening shift at the booth at the Garrett County Fair.
The Farm Bureau thanked the volunteers that worked the booth through out the week and all the customers that stopped by to enjoy the hand dipped ice cream and milkshakes.
The ice cream booth is the GCFB main fundraiser. During the past year the GCFB has supported other local youth programs such as the Garrett County Miss Scholarship, North Garrett FFA barn project, Oakland FFA greenhouse project, the Maryland Ag Trailer that visited all elementary schools, and youth groups that work the ice cream booth.
