OCEAN CITY, Md. — Nine flock supervisors from Delmarva’s five chicken companies received Outstanding Flock Supervisor awards on Oct. 3 at Delmarva Chicken Association’s 57thNational Meeting on Poultry Health, Processing, and Live Production.
As flock supervisors, these chicken company employees work face-to-face with independent chicken growers as liaisons between the farmer and the chicken company.
The flock supervisors honored were:
• Ashley Eisinger Brown of Coleman Organic, a first-time honoree; Cameron Horne of Allen Harim, a two-time honoree; Gary King of Mountaire Farms, a first-time honoree; Dan Malone of Perdue Farms, a two-time honoree; Kyle McAllister of Perdue Farms, a two-time honoree; Barry Munoz of Perdue Farms, a two-time honoree; Leroy Pusey of Amick Farms, a five-time honoree; Becky Tran of Tyson Foods, a first-time honoree; and Steve Windsor of Mountaire Farms, a six-time honoree
“As a grower, I very much appreciate the job of the flock supervisor in working with me,” said DCA President Far Nasir, a Pocomoke City, Md. chicken grower. “You are the liaison for the company, helping me to raise the best flock, while also delivering both good and bad news. And the relationships built between grower and supervisor are so important.”
“An outstanding flock supervisor makes life on the farm easier for a chicken grower, and offers assurance to a chicken company that standards and practices are being followed,” said Holly Porter, DCA’s executive director. “These award recipients work hard day in and day out to meet those goals.”
