UMES Extension workshop addresses agricultural tax issues

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. — UMES Extension is offering an in-person workshop March 3-4 to help farmers better understand agricultural tax issues associated with managing a farming operation. The eight-hour event takes place over two days at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore’s Research and Education Farm, just south of campus.  
Topics of discussion for the first day from 1-5 p.m., include “Business Structure and Tax Considerations,” “Tax Liability Issues and Helpful Resources,” and “Everything Schedule F-Part I.”  Day 2, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m., covers “Everything Schedule F-Part II,” “Agriculture Payroll” and “Financial Statements and Reviews.” Instructors for the sessions are from UMES Extension’s Agriculture Law Education Initiative and The Tennie Group LLC tax and accounting firm.
